Privacy Policy
For ADHD Clarity. Last updated: 18 August 2026.
This policy explains what ADHD Clarity does with your information. If anything is unclear, write to harfredlabs@gmail.com.
Not a diagnostic service
ADHD Clarity can help you organise and understand your experiences. It cannot diagnose ADHD or determine whether ADHD is the best explanation. A qualified clinician considers your full history, functioning, health and other possible explanations. Suggestions in the app are organising labels, not clinical findings.
Health information you write
Journal entries, past memories, optional setting and impact notes, and any voice transcript you create are sensitive personal and health-related information. You own that content. We do not sell health data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
Local-first storage
Capture works without an account and without a network. Entries are stored on this device in IndexedDB and encrypted at rest with AES-GCM before they are written. Drafts autosave on the device so a refresh or interruption does not throw away what you were typing. If you delete the app, local data goes with it unless you have later chosen to sign in and sync.
AI suggestions (Vertex AI / Gemini)
After you save an entry, the app may send the text of that entry to Google Cloud (Vertex AI, Gemini 2.5 Flash) to suggest up to two organising areas from a fixed taxonomy. That request leaves your device. By default, Google states that this kind of customer content is not used to train its general models. The model can be wrong. You can confirm, change, reject, or save without a category. Rejecting a suggestion never overwrites your original words.
You can skip AI by leaving an entry uncategorised. If the suggestion service is unavailable, your entry remains in your timeline. We do not log journal text on our servers.
Accounts, sync and export
Sign-in is optional. Capture does not require it. If you later sign in, a background queue may copy your entries to your account so they can be restored on another device. You can export a JSON copy of local entries, and delete all local data, from Settings (one level from the home screen). Export tools for clinician PDF/CSV reports are planned for a later update; the statement that you control exports remains true.
What we collect besides your journal
- Technical information sent by your device when the app contacts our servers (IP address, device and OS type, time). Used to serve the app, diagnose faults and prevent abuse.
- App version information, so we can offer updates.
- Optional first name stored only on device for greeting you.
- Allowlisted analytics events such as “capture saved” — never the text of an entry, transcript, or AI explanation. No session replay and no autocapture of form fields.
- Anything you send us in a support email.
Encryption
Data in transit to our servers uses HTTPS. Journal payloads on the device are encrypted with AES-GCM. No system is perfectly secure; we keep what we hold small on purpose.
Crisis and safety
If an entry appears to describe imminent harm, the app will not treat it as an ADHD category. It will show local Australian help options (Lifeline 13 11 14, emergency 000). The app does not contact emergency services for you.
Children
ADHD Clarity is for adults 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to harfredlabs@gmail.com.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold. Much of this you can do yourself from Settings. Ask us at harfredlabs@gmail.com and we will respond within the time your local law requires — and in any case within 30 days.
Service providers
- Google Cloud — hosting, storage, and Vertex AI / Gemini for optional interpretation.
- Apple and Google — app distribution.
These providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country under their safeguards.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app first.
